Keypership (Summer Internship) Program

2021 KEYPERSHIP
 
FirstKey Homes Keypership program targets college students entering their senior year. Participants in the Keypership program will have the opportunity to lead one or more summer projects addressing real business issues, recommend solutions, and present their results to senior leaders. They will learn about broad business management and overall property management agendas of FirstKey Homes and will participate in real work opportunities to add value from their contributions to the organization throughout the program.

ORE PROJECTS: With the guidance of a FirstKey Homes' managers, each Keypership participant will tackle a core project that addresses a real issue or opportunity for improvement faced by that business unit. The project will be led by the Summer Keyper, who may need to draw on others across the organization for information and support. Recommendations and conclusions from each project will be presented by the Summer Keyper to a team of executives at the end of the program.
 
TEAM COLLABORATION: Summer Keypers will attend department meetings, collaborate with team members across the organization to learn more about the FirstKey Homes agenda and the topics and initiatives, led by senior executives, that focus on key business issues and in different departments.
 
Most Summer Keypers will be virtual, unless otherwise specified by FirstKey Homes, and will work four-day workweeks, generally Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program will last for 8 weeks of full-time engagement, beginning on June 14, 2021 through August 6, 2021.
 
Plans can be made for a slightly shorter participation, with a minimum of seven weeks worked, if necessary. Summer Keypers will be paid a stipend of $3,500 for the summer. (NOTE: Stipends can only be paid to those eligible to work in the United States; therefore, applicants should be prepared to submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States). It will be paid in two payments.
 
Successful Summer Keyper applicants will have a strong work ethic and the ability to frame and analyze complex problems. They will feel comfortable taking initiative, and they will be able to work effectively with a diverse team of professionals across our organization in person as well as virtually. Finally, they will have good communication skills, a strong presence, and be able to synthesize and present the results of their efforts to senior executives.
 
Projects may be in the following departments:
 
  • Finance/Accounting
  • Information Technology (this department is only available to applicants local to Atlanta)
  • Compliance
  • Construction/Maintenance
  • Acquisitions
  • Operations
