Position Title: Education Specialist (GS 1720)
 
Internship Overview
Department of Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host a minimum of 11-weeks of full-time summer internships. The internships will be an opportunity to bring new and diverse viewpoints to the BLM while working on specific projects targeted for attracting, recruiting, and filling mission critical and hard-to-fill occupations. Position Overview
Education and Training Specialists work in many settings and with a variety of audiences, but all share an interest in applying technology and instructional principles to facilitate and support engaging, interactive educational programs.

Description/Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is flexible, has excellent organizational and public speaking skills, and can work effectively with a variety of people, sometimes in changing situations that call for creativity and adaptability. Some positions involve occasionally operating a motor vehicle and/or watercraft
Work is often performed in indoor settings (offices, classrooms, visitor centers) but some programs are taught in outdoor settings that involve hiking, climbing or on-the-water activities.

  • Coordinating and communicating course delivery arrangements and providing general information to students, instructors
  • Processing training requests and contracts
  • Updating and obtaining data from Learning Management Systems and/or other databases

Criteria for Submission:
  1. Currently enrolled as a Undergraduate, Graduate Student or Recent Graduate (on or after December 2020)
  2. Resume
  3. Transcript (official or unofficial)
  4. Minimum GPA - 2.50

Eligibility:
§ Preferred majors: General Education, Environmental Studies, Communication, other related majors
§ Valid state issued driver’s license required
§ U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Holder required
§ Strong verbal and written communication skills
§ Must be innovative and results driven
