Summer Intern, GL Operations

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Accounting, the Accounting Intern will assist in executing all aspects of the monthly general ledger close process, including ensuring completeness of transactions, performing analytical review of results and researching variances.

The Accounting Intern will directly assist the Accounting Manager in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables and help with special projects. Success in this role requires an analytical mindset, self-direction and a strong work ethic. What you'll likely work on:

  • Prepare general ledger entries including various accruals and allocations
  • Assist with accounts payable invoice coding and employee expense processing
  • Create fixed assets and run depreciation along with reviewing the subledger and completing the reconciliations of fixed assets
  • Prepare cash and other balance sheet account reconciliations and follow up on reconciling items
  • Build and maintain working relationships with operating and other finance groups
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting needs

What you’ll need: 

  • Must have at least two years of university completed, including at least one accounting course
  • Interest and/or some knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Growth mindset and desire to try new things and learn from others
  • Demonstrated ability to pick up new technology platforms and tools quickly
  • Able to multitask in a growing, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

This is a paid hourly internship, 40-hour per week for ten weeks. Our 2022 internship program is currently set up as a virtual internship (subject to change) in which interns can be located in any state that we operate in, however, your core hours will align with the standard business hours for the team you are working with during your internship.
